Beautician /Activity Professional, Full-time

Prairieview Lutheran Homes is currently seeking a Beautician /Activity Professional 
Full-time Position will include haircuts, hairstyling, and normal activities with residents of Prairieview Lutheran Homes
8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
5 days per week, including every third weekend

If you enjoy the company of the senior population through interactive games, baking, crafts, hair styling, nail care, music, and exercise, this may be the job for you!

  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Policy and Procedures
     - Follow policy and procedures implemented by supervising activity professionial
     - Schedule hair appointments with residents for haircuts, wash, set, perms, and styling using in-house beauty shops

Floor Activities
• Activity Professionals will follow placement schedule, pre-plan and implement floor activities 
• Activity Professionals will use monthly calendar ideas to plan and organize floor activities 
• Activity Professionals are to assist residents with outdoor visits and electronic communications
• Pre-plan and assist with outings 

  • Floor Responsibilities
    • Keeping all activity areas clean, safe and free from clutter
    • Assist residents to and from common areas as stated by their care plan
    Charting Responsibilities
    • Complete participation records for all activities on every resident
    • Quarterly progress notes (if trained)
    Continuing Education
    • Attend monthly team meetings
    • Attend facility in-services and complete online training assignments
    • Attend Cornbelt meetings and IAPA as assigned by supervisor
    • Attend Alzheimer’s class yearly
    • Receive 10 hours of activity training per year
    Miscellaneous
    • Help train new staff on the floor as assigned by supervisor
    • Communicate with families about activity involvement in a professional manner
    • Help all residents to function at their highest potential
    • Report any changes noticed in residents to appropriate discipline
    • Assist residents to look their best and uphold their dignity and treat them with respect
    - Be trained and know what to do if you suspect abuse.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Good organization skills
    2. Good communication skills and know the English Language
    3. Interest in the older population and present care in a caring Christian manner
    4. Be able to respect all residents’ rights according to the policy manual and HIPAA (Privacy)
    5. Pass background check according to state policies prior to starting employment
    6. Pass physical exam and drug screen prior to starting work, and be able to lift 50 lbs at physical exam
    7. Be able to respectfully interact with co-workers and residents
    8. Be able to act in an emergency situation according to Prairieview'a policies and procedures 
    9. Be willing to work according to Prairieview's Mission Statement and our Core Values (Respect, Excellence, Integrity, and Compassion).
    10. Licensed beautician

 

RN / LPN, Full-time nights
